We are recruiting Support Workers to provide person centred care within a highly complex, 24/7 support package for a young man with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).

The individual is highly active, and walking is a key part of his regulation. Support Workers should expect to spend extended periods in the community and support a high level of daily activity. Daytime support is delivered on a 3:1 basis, reflecting the complexity of the package and the need for consistent, skilled support.

The individual may present with behaviours that challenge, including the potential for property damage when distressed. Staff must be confident working within agreed care and Positive Behaviour Support plans, recognising early indicators of escalation and responding proportionately.

A bit about him

He's very active, and walking is a big part of his routine. Some days he'll do 20,000+ steps, so this role requires someone who is physically fit, energetic, and happy to be on the move most of the day.

He lives in a remote area, so a full UK driving licence is essential. You’ll be using his vehicle to support him in the community. He enjoys getting out, having a laugh, and talking things through. He wants support workers who will engage with him, take him seriously, and support his goals — not just observe from the side lines.

At times, He can become frustrated or overwhelmed, which may lead to challenging behaviour. It’s important you have experience with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and can remain calm, consistent, and respectful under pressure.

What you’ll be doing

As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and consistent delivery of support on shift.. You will:

  • Provide high‑quality support on a 3:1 basis
  • Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and de-escalation

  • To maintain consistency in approach and communication

  • Ability to remain calm, alert and consistent during complex or challenging situations

  • Promote best practice and model high standards of care

  • Ensure accurate recording, documentation, and handovers

  • Escalate concerns appropriately and contribute to ongoing service improvement

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for people who already have experience in:

  • Complex Care
  • Acquired Brain Injury
  • Behaviours that may be perceived as challenging
  • Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and de-escalation
  • Mental Health support

Just as important is your ability to stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and build positive, trusting relationships.
