Support Worker

Pay rate: £14.00 per hour

Contract: 1 x 36-hour per week position available. Shifts are variable and may start from 7:30am. Shift lengths can range from 8-hour day shifts to 24-hour shifts, including a combination of day support and sleep-in duties.

A dedicated and compassionate Support Worker is required to provide person-centred support for an individual with Autism and Learning Disabilities living in Tamworth. The role focuses on supporting daily life management while promoting independence, structure, and positive routines. Responsibilities include assisting with organisational skills, supporting meal planning and cooking, helping to manage budgeting and financial awareness, and providing practical support around the home.

The Support Worker will accompany the individual to a variety of activities and social outings, including gym sessions, cinema trips, outdoor visits such as National Trust properties, and meals out, while encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and balanced decision-making. The role also involves working sensitively around daily challenges and structured schedules, acting as a positive role model, and providing mentoring support. The individual enjoys an active lifestyle with interests in the outdoors, walking, fitness, cinema, food, and cooking, and maintains a close and positive relationship with their parents.

 Experience & Skills of a Support Worker: 

• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential
• Previous experience supporting individuals with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities.
• A caring, patient, and compassionate approach, with a genuine commitment to promoting independence and wellbeing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and trusting relationships.
• Ability to provide mentoring, encouragement, and positive role modelling.
• Experience supporting individuals with daily living skills, including budgeting, meal planning, cooking, and maintaining a home environment.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to support structured routines and schedules.
• Understanding of person-centred support and the importance of respecting individual choices and preferences.
• Confidence in supporting social and community-based activities, including leisure pursuits and outdoor activities.
• Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and responsive to changing needs and challenges.
