Support Worker
Location: Poole
Pay rate: £14.18 per hour
Shift pattern: 08:00 am-20:00 pm
Hours: 1x 24 hour
We are looking for caring, reliable, and confident Male Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting an individual who lives at home in Poole.
The person we support has a Learning Disability, Autism, and behaviours that may present as challenging. We are seeking Support Workers who can provide consistent, person-centred support while promoting independence, wellbeing, and community engagement.
This individual leads an active lifestyle and regularly attends music therapy and hydrotherapy sessions, so you will need to be confident in and around water. He also enjoys getting out into the community for day trips, shopping, walks, and visits to local parks, and requires support to access these activities safely and positively. This is a rewarding opportunity to build a meaningful relationship and help someone enjoy a fulfilling and active life.
Experience & Skills of a Support Worker:
- A full UK driving licence is essential due to the nature of community-based activities and appointments.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Mental Health needs, and behaviours that may challenge.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish positive and trusting connections.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting individuals with complex needs.
- Confidence in managing, reducing, and de-escalating challenging situations in a safe and positive manner.
- Ability to promote independence while providing appropriate guidance, reassurance, and support.
- Comfortable supporting individuals to access community activities, appointments, and therapies.
- Confidence in and around water to support attendance at hydrotherapy sessions.
- A proactive, reliable, and flexible approach to work.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider support team.
