We are looking for a caring, reliable, and confident Support Worker to join a dedicated team supporting a 32-year-old gentleman living at home with his wife and young daughter in Plymouth. The individual has Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and complex clinical needs, including tracheostomy care, ventilation support, PEG feeding, medication administration, oral suctioning, cough assist, gastrostomy care, bowel care, and personal care. He is wheelchair user and communicates using an eye-gaze communication device, alongside facial expressions and other non-verbal methods of communication.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide person-centred support that enables him to live comfortably at home while maintaining his independence and enjoying the things that matter most to him. He enjoys following Birmingham City Football Club, watching Formula 1, spending time on his iPad, and accessing the community when possible.

 Experience & Skills of a Support Worker: 

  • Full UK driving license would essential due nature of the role
  • Experience in a care, support work, or healthcare setting within complex care
  • Experience supporting individuals with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is desirable
  • A compassionate, patient, and person-centred approach.
  • Confidence supporting individuals with complex clinical needs, or willingness to complete specialist training.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn tracheostomy care, ventilation, PEG feeding, medication administration, and personal care.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to support someone using alternative communication methods.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for making a positive difference in someone's life.
