Support Worker

Pay rate: Weekdays £14.00 days, and Weekdays Nights £14.50, Weekend Nights & Days £14.50
Contract: 1 x 24 hrs on both days and waking nights (Monday to Sunday) 

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated female support worker to assist a gentleman in his late 30s who is living with a spinal injury and is paralysed from the chest down. He is a clear communicator and uses an eye-gaze device for typing emails and messages. Full support is required with all aspects of daily living, including personal care and bowel management.

You will be working in a well-adapted home where he lives with his wife and their 8-month-old baby. They are a fun-loving family with a great sense of humour who enjoy spending quality time together. They also have a passion for hobbies such as shooting and visiting local attractions.

Experience and Skills of a Support Worker

  • A caring, patient, and reliable individual
  • Experience in complex care (including spinal injury and bowel care – desirable but training can be provided)
  • Confidence providing personal care, including bowel care management, while maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to support individuals who use assistive technology, including eye-gaze communication systems.
  • A compassionate, patient, and person-centred approach with a genuine passion for supporting others to live independently.
  • Ability to build positive professional relationships with both the individual and their family within a home environment.
  • Experience supporting people to access social, leisure, and community activities.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to assist with household tasks and maintain accurate care records.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative, and remain calm in a variety of situations.
  • Reliability, flexibility, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care.
  • A positive attitude and a good sense of humour
  • A full UK driving licence (essential)
