Location: Thornbury
Pay Rate: £14.00 per hour
Shift Pattern: 08:00am - 8:00pm and 8:00pm - 8:00am, Monday to Sunday (flexible shifts available)
Hours: 36 hours per week
We are seeking a caring, reliable, and confident Support Worker to join a dedicated team supporting an individual living at home with their family in Thornbury. The individual has Autism, complex clinical needs, and behaviours that may present as challenging, and requires a consistent, person-centred approach from a compassionate and committed support team.
In this rewarding role, you will provide high-quality 1:1 support, helping the individual to live safely, comfortably, and as independently as possible. You will support them with day-to-day routines, encourage participation in meaningful activities both at home and in the community, promote social engagement and emotional wellbeing, and assist with communication in a way that reflects their individual needs and preferences. You will also help maintain a calm, structured, and organised environment, building positive relationships and providing consistent support that makes a genuine difference to their quality of life.
Experience & Skills of a Support Worker:
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with Autism, complex needs, or behaviours that may present as challenging is required
- Experience working in a care, support work, healthcare, or community-based setting.
- A compassionate, patient, and person-centred approach to supporting others.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to remain calm and confident in challenging situations.
- Understanding of safeguarding, dignity, choice, and promoting independence.
- Reliable, flexible, and committed to providing consistent support.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake training and develop clinical competencies relevant to the role.
- A positive attitude and genuine passion for making a difference in someone's life.
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
