Bank Hours on Waking Nights 8pm-8am and weekend days

We are seeking compassionate and flexible Bank Support Workers to provide care for a 6-year-old boy in a warm, family-oriented home. He lives with his parents and siblings and attends school regularly. This is a rewarding opportunity to support a young child within a nurturing environment, playing a key role in his daily care and routines.

He has a tracheostomy and requires ventilatory support, along with a diagnosis of epilepsy. He also has a large exomphalos, meaning some of his internal organs are positioned outside of his abdominal cavity. He is mobile, though he occasionally uses a chair, and is able to attend school on a regular basis. In many ways, he enjoys life as a typical 6-year-old boy.

His care needs include NG tube feeding, continence care, and the use of pads. He communicates well, has a strong personality, and enjoys engaging with others and receiving attention.

Experience and Skills of a Support Worker

• Previous experience in paediatric or complex care is highly desirable.
• Flexibility is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure full shift coverage.
• Knowledge of tracheostomy care, ventilation, and nasogastric (NG) feeding is required, or a willingness to undertake training in these areas.
• Experience supporting individuals with epilepsy is beneficial.
• A compassionate, patient, and reliable approach is essential.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with children and their families.
• Confidence in managing behaviours and promoting a safe, positive environment.
• Strong communication and observational skills are required.
