Support Worker

Contract: 2 x 42-hour positions available

Pay Rate: £14.00 per hour

Shift Pattern: Day shifts, 8:00am to 8:00pm (Alternative Weekends)

We are looking for compassionate, confident and enthusiastic Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting a 25-year-old gentleman in his own home. He is a sociable and engaging young man who communicates verbally and enjoys living an active and meaningful life. He has a real passion for wheelchair rugby and scuba diving, is currently relearning to play the saxophone, and volunteers with a wildlife welfare organisation. He also has a dog at home, so being comfortable around dogs is important. He’s a huge Arsenal fan, so an interest in football would be a great way to build rapport and share a common interest.

He has a spinal injury and brain injury alongside complex clinical needs, including autonomic dysreflexia, seizures and dyslexia.

Experience & Skills of Support Worker:

• A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
• Previous experience working within complex care, healthcare or support work would be beneficial.
• Experience supporting individuals with spinal injuries, brain injuries, seizures or autonomic dysreflexia would be advantageous, although full training can be provided where appropriate.
• An understanding of choking risks, modified food and fluids would be beneficial.
• Confident in following clinical care plans, risk assessments and guidance to ensure safe and consistent support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build a positive and trusting relationship.
• A person-centred approach, encouraging independence, choice and involvement in activities and the wider community.
• Proactive and enthusiastic, with a willingness to get involved in his hobbies, interests and social activities.
• Reliable, patient and able to remain calm and responsive when supporting someone with complex needs. Comfortable working in a home where there is a dog.
• Able to work effectively as part of a wider care team while also using your own initiative.
